On December 7, the RA NA deputy, the representative of the Yazidi community Rustam Bakoyan met with the Head of the Danish Delegation to PACE Lars Aslan Rasmussen.
Rustam Bakoyan thanked the guest for expressing wish to meet with him, which, according to him, testified to the fact that Lars Aslan Rasmussen had special attention and attitude towards the national minorities.
The MP has informed that the Yazidis are considered to be the biggest national minority in Armenia.
The interlocutors spoke about the problems of the Yazidi community related to the preservation of language, religion and culture. Rustam Bakoyan has noted that Armenia is the only country in the world, where the Yazidis have opportunity to study their mother tongue at schools.
The deputy talked about the genocide of Sinjar, and he was interested in the opportunity of its adoption by the Danish Parliament. The Head of the Danish Delegation to PACE Lars Aslan Rasmussen has noted that steps are being undertaken in that direction. According to Lars Aslan Rasmussen, a number of resolutions condemning genocides, and among them those relating to Yazidis and Armenians, should be adopted in the Danish Parliament.
