The draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the Law on Probation was debated at the NA extraordinary session on July 11.
According to the key rapporteur, the deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction Alkhas Ghazaryan, it is planned to remove the notion of post-punishment phase from the content of the notions and the other provisions used in the law.
The deputy informed that another provision is designed as well, according to which psychological assistance is provided within the framework of probation on the basis of a relevant court act through the involvement of psychological organizations by the Probation Service, and the organizations providing psychological assistance are selected as a result of the implementation of relevant procurement procedures.
The author of the legislative initiative also highlighted the provision by which in case of conditional non-applying of the sentence, release from punishment, conditional release from punishment, the control over the serviceman who is on probation or the execution of the sentence is postponed is carried out by the command of his military unit.
The co-rapporteur, the RA Deputy Minister of Justice Levon Balyan informed that the submitted draft law has a tendency to regulate a number of problems raised as a result of the application of the law during its validity period. He stated that the Government has a positive opinion on the draft law.
The initiative was adopted in the first reading.
