Letter of the Speaker of RA National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan to the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress Mrs. Nancy Pelosi

“Dear Mrs. Speaker,

In Armenia we were following with attention and excitement the discussions of the resolution on the Armenian Genocide perpetrated in 1915 by Turkey in the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the Congress of the United States.

We recorded with satisfaction the results of the voting. The voting of March 4, 2010 is not only a moral tribute to the Armenian people, but also a fair answer to the crime committed before the mankind at the beginning of the pervious century.

Dear Mrs. Speaker, in the name of the National Assembly and personally me I thank you and all the colleagues of the House of Representatives, who promoted the adoption of this resolution in the Committee.

This is a beginning of a big process: I hope the day, when the resolution is adopted by the House of Representatives, will come. I also consider not irrelevant to note that the establishment of the historical justice cannot impede the process of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations, but, to our deep conviction, it will be an important step on the way of reconciliation of the Armenian and Turkish peoples.

Taking the advantage, I wish you all the best, and the friendly people of the United States happiness and welfare.”
