On December 9, the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs moderated by Vladimir Vardanyan convened an extraordinary sitting.
The legislative package on Amending the Law on the RA Citizen's Passport and on Amending the Law on Identification Cards presented by the Government was debated in the second reading.
The Deputy Head of the RA Police Ara Fidanyan informed that it was proposed to again extend the term of providing old sample, non-biometric passports to the RA citizens, fixing until 1 January 2022 instead of 1 January 2021.
The amendment is made, as on 1 January 2017, the term of the contract signed with the Polish PWPW Company supplying the system of the RA biometric passports and identification cards ended, and conditioned by that a new competition was announced.
According to the Deputy Head of the RA Police, the package has not been undergone amendment after being passed in the first reading, because of not being proposals. The package was endorsed by the Committee, and it would be debated during the NA ongoing regular sittings.
