Degree of Population Awareness on Health and Social Protection Programmes
1 / 18

On February 17, the Director of Prisma Research Company Liana Poghosyan was invited to the National Assembly to present the results of the survey made recently, to the Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs. In the framework of the Modern Parliament for a Modern Armenia, survey was made aimed at the control of the Articles execution on the social and health mandatory problems of the RA law on Local Self-Government.

The survey was carried out among 472 residents of 30-targeted communities chosen from 10 regions. Interviews were held with the heads of 19 communities or staffs.

The degree of the population awareness on social protection and health programmes, their satisfaction from the mentioned services, as well as the opinion of the community’s role were studied.

The results of the survey showed that the degree of the awareness among the heads of the communities and staffs were not at sufficient level. It has been noted that the perception of the notion ‘social programme’ lacks.

The reduction of the financial resources was considered an obstacle of priority for the implementation of the authorities over social security.

In the five-year and annual development plans of the communities were not included the programmes aimed at boosting the birthdate and the mothers with many children.

84.5% among the surveyed is aware that the first aid services in Armenia are free, and 82.4% is aware of the fact that in some case free medicine is provided to the patients.

As Narek Zeynalyan assessed, meaningful and information voluminous work had been done. In the future discussions would be organized with the representatives of the relevant ministries.

Taking into consideration the outcomes of the survey, the NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs will make amendments in the legislative package. The solution of the social and health problems in the communities will become more efficient by their adoption.
