The need to consolidate the function of anti-corruption monitoring and evaluation by the legislative act was recorded by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as a problem and, accordingly, as a priority for reform. The RA Deputy Minister of Justice Yeranuhi Tumanyants said about this at the sitting of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs held on September 2, presenting the addendum proposed to the Law on Structure and Activities of Government.
She noted that although the RA Ministry of Justice actually performs this function, it is necessary to clearly establish such powers by law in order to exclude misunderstandings and provide a clear legal basis to perform the mentioned functions.
It was proposed to define that the implementation of the Government’s policy in the spheres of activity provided in the annex also implies the monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the Government’s policy in the relevant sphere by the Ministries.
The co-rapporteur proposed to endorse the draft.
The debated draft law was endorsed.
