The approach of providing additional pay of the official rate of 50% by the established order of the law to the judges of the Court of Cassation (including the President of the Court of Cassation and the President of the Chairman of the Court of Cassation) will be also applied towards the President and the members of the Supreme Judicial Council. The draft law on Making Addenda to the Law on Remuneration of the Persons Holding State Positions and State Service Positions was debated at the extraordinary sitting of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs on December 8.
The key rapporteur, the RA Deputy Minister of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan noted that it is stipulated by Article 83.2 of the Constitutional Law Judicial Code that the payment of the member of the Supreme Judicial Council is set by law, and it cannot be less than the payment of the judge of the Court of Cassation. According to the Deputy Minister, the amendment is directed to the addition of the omission.
The draft proposes to set that official rate of 50%, addition is also given by the order established by law to the President and the member of the Supreme Judicial Council.
As a result of the adoption of draft, there will be change in the RA State Budget expenditures for 2023, and conditioned by that, the Government considered the adoption of the draft law urgent.
The key rapporteur, deputy Lilit Minasyan called on her colleagues to vote for the draft law.
The Committee endorsed the legislative initiative of the Government debated in the first reading.
