Meeting in the NA Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment

On November 26 the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Environment Martun Grigoryan and the deputies met with the delegation headed by Katerina Konečna, the member of the Committee for Environment of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic.

Welcoming the Czech counterparts’ visit to Armenia, Martun Grigoryan deemed useful the activation of mutual contacts and cooperation, noting that such meetings served as a good basis for developing further relations. With opening the Armenian and Czech embassies in the two countries the cooperation in diplomatic and different spheres has became closer. The visit of the NA President Hovik Abrahamyan to the Czech Republic also, by the Committee Chairman’s characterization, gave new quality to the inter-parliamentary cooperation, revealed new opportunities and directions.

According to Martun Grigoryan, the ecological problems are many, and the experience of the developed countries is important. Katerina Konečna also expressed conviction that with joint cooperation they would more effectively be engaged with the environment and neutralizing of existing challenges. In her opinion, the Czech Republic and Armenia have a lot of commonness, which opens good perspective for cooperation.

The representatives of the two parliaments gave information to each other about the activities and ecological events of the committees, also about financial means. As an EU member country, the Czech Republic gets big assistance from that organization for solving the ecological problems. The sides documented that in general, the legislation in the protection of the environment has the same ideological basis: who pollutes this environment that should pay. In the Czech Republic state funds function, which collect those sums and direct to elimination of harmful influence. The purposeful use of the ecological payments in the RA, according to the deputies, is also regulated by the law.

In the course of the meeting other issues concerning the environment and of bilateral interest were discussed: waste elaboration, opportunity of the restoring energy. They talked about operating the mines and the influence of the environment by building the hydro-electrical stations.
