ASUE Council Sitting is Held
1 / 4

On January 17 the sitting of the Council of the Armenian State University of Economics (ASUE) was held, which was presided over by the RA NA President, President of the ASUE Council Hovik Abrahamyan. The RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan attended the meeting..

Hovik Abrahamyan greeted the participants, and as it was the first meeting in 2013, he congratulated their New Year and Holy Nativity, expressing conviction that the year 2013 would be a year of new achievements.

The ASUE Chancellor, Doctor of Economics, Professor Koryun Atoyan presented a report on academic and financial-economic activity results of the Armenian State University of Economics in 2012 and the main indices of the draft law budget for 2013. The Chancellor summed up the academic and financial-economic year, at the same time indicating the indices and the works to be done in 2013. In his speech Koryun Atoyan touched upon the educational-methodological works, the organization and improvement of the educational process, the students’ progress, the scientific activity, the organization of practice, the educational issues, public relations, the continuous education, the internationalization and economic activity of the University and other issues.

Koryun Atoyan also presented the second item of the agenda: the creation of  the Research Centre in the ASUE. The Head of the University substantiated the necessity of forming such structure in terms of increasing the education quality and the rise of competitiveness, noting that the goal of the Research Centre would be to encourage and support the study of the country’s economic policy. Welcoming this initiative Hovik Abrahamyan deemed possible the cooperation of the Research Centre with relevant structures of the parliament. By Mr Abrahamyan’s assessment, big work and programmes have been carried out aimed at the improvement of the education quality and, in general, the reforms, which are thoroughly reflected in the report. By Hovik Abrahamyan’s observation, it is for the first time that in the report with this transparency the shortcomings have been also indicated. Considering this a welcoming approach the President of the Parliament and the University said that we should do our best for rectifying them.

The Council of the Armenian State University of Economics by voting adopted the agenda items.
