On March 18, the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan met with the newly appointed Head of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung/Foundation (KAS) Regional Office Thomas Schrapel and the Scientific Associate of the Regional Office of the Foundation Florian Feyerabend.
Welcoming the guests and congratulating Mr Schrapel on the occasion of his appointment, Artak Zakaryan highlighted the activities of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Armenia and expressed hope that the effective cooperation formed between the Committee led by him and the Foundation will be continuous from now on. Mr Schrapel in his turn has noted that he is ready to contribute to the further deepening of cooperation and take concrete steps in the implementation of the programmes with the support of the KAS.
Artak Zakaryan touched upon Armenia-European Union relations, as well as the obligations assumed by Armenia within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEC). He has underlined that Armenia, as EEC member state, highlights the continuity of the dialogue with the European Union.
The Committee Chairman presented to the guests the procedure of the Constitutional reforms implemented in our country. He also evaluated the experience of Germany and its study in passing onto parliamentary system of government.
Thanking the Committee Chairman for the warm reception, Thomas Schrapel has noted that he has been in our country for the first time and is impressed by Armenia. He has underlined that he is well aware of the regional problems and has added that Armenia is an important country in terms of strengthening stability in the region.
In the course of the meeting the sides also touched upon Armenia-Turkey and Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, the NK conflict and other issues.
