On December 4 the official delegation led by RA NA Speaker Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan met with the President of the International Cooperation Agency of Korea (KOICA) Mr. Park Dae Won.
Welcoming the guests Mr. Park Dae Won noted that it was great honour for them to host the Speaker of RA National Assembly and expressed hope that the visit would promote to boost and strengthen the already developing Armenia-Korea partnership.
The Speaker of RA National Assembly Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan highlighted the activity of the agency, which, being created in 1991, implemented technical cooperation programs in developing states. The NA Speaker opined that for all developing countries, including Armenia, it was very important to study the experience of South Korea, as being one of the poorest countries, now Korea is classified among the most economically developed states. He considers important the support that the agency demonstrates in the process of sharing the abovementioned experience of Korea and the programs, which are carried out in Armenia by its support.
On the same day the delegation of the National Assembly met with the members of Korea-Armenia Friendship Parliamentary Group.
RA NA Speaker Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan highlighted the activity of the Friendship Parliamentary Groups in the aspect of intensifying the inter-parliamentary cooperation, developing the parliamentary diplomacy, deepening the partnership in international parliamentary structures. In this context he considered necessary the organization of the mutual visits, exchange of experience and cooperation in all directions.
Head of the Group Mr. Park Jie Won considered important the Memorandum of Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation signed on the previous day in developing and deepening the relations of two legislative bodies. He presented in detail to his colleagues, who arrived in Armenia the staff, structure, activity of the parliament of the South Korea and the political forces represented in the National Assembly.
At the meeting the partners discussed the perspectives of cooperation and other issues of bilateral interest.
On the same day, in the evening the official delegation led by RA NA Speaker Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan left for Jeju Province of South Korea, where Governor of Jeju Province met the Armenian parliamentarians
During the meeting the Governor introduced the guests to the history of the province, the order of the formation of the self-government bodies, economy, etc.
RA NA Speaker Mr. Hovik Abrahamyan also highlighted the Armenian-Korean cooperation at the local self-government bodies, which could be an impetus in developing the inter-state relations.
