On March 5 the President of RA National Assembly Mr Hovik Abrahamyan received the delegation headed by the Foreign Trade Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mrs Sheikha Lubna bint Khaled al-Qasimi. The meeting attended the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the United Arab Emirates Mr Vahagn Melikyan and other officials.
Welcoming the guests the NA President Mt Hovik Abrahamyan expressed conviction that the Minister’s visit would promote the development and strengthening of Armenia-UAE friendly relations and would have practical result. The President of the National Assembly noted that Armenia highly assessed the created cooperation and stated with satisfaction that the relations between Armenia and the United Arab Emirates had stable progress in different directions. Mr Abrahamyan underlined the necessity of the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, noting that it yielded the level of trade-economic relations, and in this context he emphasized the activation of the mutual visits of inter-parliamentary delegations, which would promote the experience exchange and the joint elaboration of specialized information.
Mrs Sheikha Lubna bint Khaled al-Qasimi expressed gratitude for reception and highlighted the further development of Armenia-UAE cooperation, the activation of trade-economic relations, the increase of the goods turnover between the two countries, the volumes of investments and the necessity of the implementation of new programmes of cooperation.
The NA President Mt Hovik Abrahamyan highly assessed the current level of trade-economic relations and noted one of the most achievements of cooperation the repairing of Haghartsin church complex sub-structure system, for which the governor of Sharjah Emirates Mr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad al-Qasimi donated 5 m USD, as well as the crediting of Armenia’s water economy with the amount of 10 m USD by the Development fund directory.
At the meeting other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed.
