The package of laws on Making Amendments to the Law on Veterinary Medicine and on Making Addendum to the Law on State Control of Food Safety was debated at June 13 NA sitting.
According to the Acting Head of the Coordination Bureau of Inspection Bodies of the RA Prime Minister’s Office Armen Danielyan , with the draft presented, physical and legal entities are obliged to process, distribute, store, transport, import, use in public food services, supply and sell only animal products and raw materials of animal origin resulting from slaughter.
It is also defined that in case of detection of raw materials of animal origin obtained as a result of non-slaughter during the oversight, the sale of the entire batch is suspended, a decision is made to confiscate and destroy it.
The co-rapporteur, the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection Vahe Ghalumyan noted that the aim of the draft is to limit the circulation of non-slaughterhouse meat products, which is directly related to the health of the population. He called on his colleagues to vote for the package of draft laws.
