At November 9 sitting of the RA NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport, the draft law on Ratifying the Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education authored by the Government was debated.
The Convention was signed on November 25, 2019 in Paris. The adoption of the proposed draft law is conditioned by the necessity to expand scientific-educational and humanitarian ties of Armenia in the international field.
According to the RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Artur Martirosyan, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has its special place in the development agenda of Armenia. Our country has joined a number of regional conventions of the organization and actively participates in their implementation. Armenia is obliged to recognize the qualifications acquired in the other country and the education approved by the relevant document or certificate, which correspond to the higher education system of our country. The international recognition of qualifications related to the higher education will facilitate interconnected learning, as well as the international cooperation in the field of higher education will be expanded.
The Committee endorsed the draft law.
