On October 20, the delegation led by the RA NA President Ara Babloyan met with the Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Marek Kuchciński.
The RA NA President noted that during the quarter of the century the two countries had developed friendly relations, political dialogue at high level, and effective cooperation in different spheres.
Ara Babloyan has underlined that the cooperation in parliamentary format has its important role in enriching the agenda of the Armenian-Polish inter-state relations and in deepening of the existing friendly ties. According to the Head of the RA Parliament, in the development of the Armenian-Polish inter-parliamentary dialogue the activation of the relations between the Friendship Groups in the parliaments can be of significant importance. To Mr Babloyan’s conviction, there is great potential of developing the cooperation between the parliamentarians of Armenia and Poland.
The Head of the RA Parliament has noted that the proof of the Armenian and Polish peoples’ friendship is the centuries-old activities in Poland, during which the Armenians had shown themselves in their best ways. Today, about 25.000 Armenians live in Poland. Mr Babloyan thanked Mr Kuchciński for the Polish authorities’ positive attitude towards the Armenian community.
Talking about the Nagorno Karabakh problem, the RA NA President has underscored that Armenia does not see any alternative to the peaceful settlement. The Head of the Armenian Parliament, touching upon the war unleashed by Azerbaijan in April of the past year, stated that the atrocities committed by the Azerbaijani side once again showed the attitude of the Azerbaijani leadership towards human life.
“I learned with deep pain that yesterday a 19-year old Armenian young man was killed by the military forces of Azerbaijan. We, the doctors, operate on the child born an hour before, take care of the child for the full recovery for many months, and it is not understandable how can numerous people’s lives be taken in a few minutes for the reason that they want to solve the problem in peace,” the RA NA President said.
Thanking Mr Babloyan for the visit, the Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Marek Kuchciński assured that the cooperation in the parliamentary format would be continued in the best way. The Marshal of the Sejm has talked with satisfaction about the great contribution that the Armenians have in Poland. In his word, the Armenians are the Polish people’s friends, and the historical resolution adopted in the Senate the day before is also the vivid evidence of it.
The sides also discussed the cooperation in the bilateral and multilateral directions to develop concrete programmes.
