On November 10, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration, the Chair of the Armenian-Belarusian Inter-Parliamentary Committee Armen Gevorgyan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Armenia Aleksandr Konyuk.
Armen Gevorgyan highlighted the traditional friendly relations historically formed between Armenia and Belarus, which should continuously develop and strengthen. The MP underlined the necessity of the expansion of the two countries’ inter-parliamentary ties, noting that he would do his best in that direction.
Touching upon the regional developments, the Committee Chair voiced the issue of the immediate return of Armenian prisoners of war and other captives held in Azerbaijan, with regards to the problem settlement evaluating the distinct impulses of the friendly states to Azerbaijan. Highly assessing the establishment of peace in the region, the opposition MP has considered senseless speaking about peace at this moment, when our compatriots are captured in Azerbaijan.
It has been noted that the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the National Assemblies of Armenia and Belarus has favourable experience of collaboration and joint work. The enlivening of the Committee’s work was highlighted.
Ambassador Konyuk also emphasized the development of the inter-parliamentary relations and cooperation in different spheres. At Armen Gevorgyan’s request the Ambassador presented details about the situation conditioned by the refugees’ flow on the border of Belarus.
The interlocutors talked about the Armenian-Belarusian cooperation within the EEI framework. The development of the trade-economic ties has been deemed mutually beneficial and it has been noted that there is unused great potential in this sphere.
