In case of the detection, arrest, confiscation or seizure of a stolen vehicle in the territory of one of the sides of the CIS Member States, the competent body of the relevant side will be notified.
On April 12, the National Assembly debated the issue on the Ratification of the Protocol on Making Amendments to the Agreement on Cooperation between the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Combating Vehicle Thefts and Ensuring their Return. The RA Deputy Head of Police Ara Fidanyan presented it.
According to the representative of the Government, joining the document will create favorable conditions to reduce the use of stolen vehicles for terrorist, criminal or other illegal activities.
As a result of proposed amendments, the cooperation between the competent bodies will be activated.
“Joining the protocol is expedient from the point of view of Armenia’s foreign policy,” the rapporteur emphasized.
The Standing (Head) Committee on Defense and Security endorsed the ratification of the protocol. The deputy Armen Khachatryan voiced about it.
