On April 24, a great friend of Armenia, a Member of the House of Lords and the former Deputy Speaker of Great Britain Baroness Caroline Cox accompanied by the NA deputy Hripsime Grigoryan visited Tsisternakaberd.
After laying flowers at the eternal fire perpetuating the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims Caroline Cox addressed with a message.
“First of all, I thank the Armenian people and Artsakh, for holding the frontline of faith and freedom fight, and you have had very grave losses because of it.
I have come here with anger, because we press the British Government to recognize the Armenian Genocide. I can say that one of the states, being part of Great Britain, Wales recognized it. There is a memorial dedicated to it in the capital of Wales, Cardiff, but the United Kingdom has not recognized it yet, and we are fighting for that. We shall also recognize the attempt of genocide, which was made in 1992-1994 and in 2020. The last actions of Azerbaijan and Turkey comply with all standards of genocide.
My third and last message is love. Most people and me in England love Armenia and Artsakh. This small territory has given many prominent figures. I am here first with the feelings of admiration, then anger and love. This is my message to your beautiful country, Caroline Cox concluded.
