On May 3 the President of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan visited Zangakatun village of Ararat marz, in Paruyr Sevak Museum the results of the marz final phase of the 6th Republican Recitation Children Youth Contest-Festival were summed up. This year the festival being held under the auspice of the NA President Hovik Abrahamyan is dedicated to the Armenian well-acclaimed poets Paruyr Sevak and Hamo Sahyan. The great poet Paruyr Sevak’s son, Armen Ghazaryan also was taking part in the event.
Before summing up the results the Head of the parliament accompanied by deputies, Governor of Ararat Marz Edik Barseghyan, member of the festival jury famous intellectuals and artists incensed and laid flowers at the poet’s tomb, visited Sevak’s house, then the Museum. Here six schoolchildren, who passed into the final phase by contest received prizes from the NA President and jury members. In the guests’ presence the prize winners once again brilliantly recited and conveyed to the art lovers Sahyan’s and Sevak’s word and excitement. Before that at the museum yard the honored actors and reciters of Armenia were reading well-known works, holding master classes. During the event the beloved singer Susanna Safaryan made a surprise, singing two songs written on the basis of the poems by Paruyr Sevak and Hamo Sahyan.
In Ararat marz 38 out of 180 pupils have received an opportunity of reciting at the marz final phase: 6 of them received bids for participation in the republican phase to be held at the end of May. In two age groups, 11-14 and 15-17, accordingly Tamara Ohanjanyan and Sargis Sarukhanyan occupied the first place, the second – Rafael Galstyan and Vardges Arakelyan, the third – Liana Grigoryan and Shushanik Asatryan.
First of all the NA President thanked the children and teenagers, who like reciting, saying that he is proud of their generation and love towards literature. The NA President also addressed his word of gratitude to their teachers and parents. By the NA President’s characterization, the drastic growth of the number of the participants after the launch of the festival inspiring: it has already reached from 5000 to 170.000, to which testifies the great interest.
Hovik Abrahamyan also assured that the programme would be continuous.
He thanked the Governor of Ararat, the deputies, the jury members and the organizers of the festival for supporting the event. Hovik Abrahamyan informed the attendees about another intention – to create a working group with the participation of intellectuals and concerned people for preserving the Armenian language, and in general, for enjoying decent attention to our language, as an important basis of nation preservation.
