On May 8 the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations met with the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe to the RA Oleksandr Pavlyuk and his Deputy Naira Avetisyan.

Thanking for reception Oleksandr Pavlyuk deemed important the holding of the parliamentary hearings on the them “The Presidency of the Republic of Armenia in the Council of Europe” organized by the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations a few days ago. The Special Representative expressed readiness to support Armenia in implementing the presidency in the CoE Committee of Ministers at high level.

In the course of the meeting the sides also talked about the perspectives of possible cooperation with the Committee. With this respect in the name of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Artak Zakaryan expressed willingness to deepen the cooperation with the Office of the Council of Europe to the RA.

The interlocutors also touched upon the activity of the NA delegations in parliamentary organizations and highlighted the parliamentary diplomacy as an important instrument in the modern world. The sides talked about the perspectives of the Nagorno Karabakh problem settlement and the role of the parliament in it.

In the course of the meeting other issues of bilateral interest were also discussed.
