On May 23 on the initiative of the President of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan at the NA Session Hall with the participation of the deputies and the members of the government discussion connected with the rise of the gas tariff was held.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan in his speech touched upon the formation of the price of the gas import, making parallel with the situation in the international market, and informing the attendees that the gas price had a tendency of getting expensive in the whole world. He has also reported that as a result of negotiations with the Russian side, an arrangement was made for the gas price received on the border, which continues to remain the cheapest in the region.

The Minister rejected the circulating news as if Iran-Armenia gas-pipe has little diameter for becoming an alternative. He has said that the gas-pipe meets the demands of the gas consumption of the country, but it is more expedient to purchase gas from Russia, as the selling price of Iran gas is higher.

The Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission Robert Nazaryan said that the ArmRusgasprom applied to the Commission with a proposal.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and the Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission also answered the deputies’ questions.
