On May 23 the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Social Affairs Hakob Hakobyan met with the Minister of Labor, Health Care and Social Affairs of Georgia Andria Urushadze and his deputy Irakli Nadareishvili. The Deputy Minister of Sukias Avetisyan, the committee deputies Gagik Melikyan, Edward Sharmazanov, as well as the Deputy Chairman of the Health Care, Maternity and Childhood Mkrtich Minasyan attended the meeting.
The Georgian officials are interested in the process of pension reforms, which entered into important phase in Armenia. According to the speakers, in Georgia hot debates are underway over the versions of amending the pension system, but no model is chosen yet. In this context, the Minister considered useful and important Armenia’s achived and succeeded experience as a neighbouring country in the region. The Committee Chairman expressed willingness to convey the information to the Georgian counterparts, which could promote the start of the pension reforms in the neighbouring country, including the passed and translated laws, which would provide the use of the new system. Hakob Hakobyan informed details to the guests on the main principles and components of the pension new system, legal field and financial sources of the pension new system, emphasizing the awareness and involvement of the society. The Georgian Minister thanked for the given opportunity and underlined that in the legislative and executive bodies the meetings, as well as the Memorandum signed with the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia would promote to more activate the cooperation and strengthen the ties in this sphere.
