On November 12, the Speaker of the RA National Assembly Galust Sahakyan, deputies Aragats Akhoyan, Hovhannes Sahakyan visited Aghdzk archaeological site of Aragatsotn Marz. The Head of the Parliament attended a unique event, where the pecific finds discovered in the archaeological site were shown. First, Galust Sahakyan took a tour in the territory, got familiarized with Arshakuni Kings’ Mausoleum, then the excavated artifacts; and among them were the most expensive medieval faience, numerous jewelry and coins. Afterwards, in the presence of the Speaker of the National Assembly the archaeologists opened the 3rd chest, where the Armenian kings’ relics were. Let us note that at the end of the exhibition the youth staged the Arshakunis’ period of the Armenian history.
Let us inform that the first historical-archaeological excavations began in 1974 in the 4th century Mausoleum of Aghdzk, and have been going on phase by phase by now. The archaeological site includes Arshakuni Kings’ Mausoleum, a basilica church, obelisks and cross-stones.
