On November 17, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, Head of RA NA Delegation to NATO PA Koryun Nahapetyan received NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges Jamie Shea.
Welcoming the guests, Koryun Nahapetyan has highly assessed the development of Armenia-NATO relations and has noted that both parties show readiness in deepening those relations. Within the framework of the partnership relations Mr Nahapetyan has distinguished particularly the RA participation in the international peace-keeping missions: Armenia continues supporting the KFOR Mission in Kosovo with its peace-keeping troops, as well as in the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan. He has added that with that commitment our country takes part in the provision of the international security.
Highly appreciating the current level of Armenia-NATO relations, Koryun Nahapetyan has noted that the Committee especially highlights the implementation of all events, which with parliamentary format are included in the framework of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP).
Jamie Shea presented his viewpoint on the IPAP new document for 2017-2018, its fulfillment, the role of NATO in the implementation of the events in parliamentary format.
Both sides also discussed issues concerning the level of cooperation in the spheres of institutional, democratic and defensive reforms with NATO.
