On November 24, within the margins of the works of the Autumn Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA) of the CIS going on in Saint Petersburg the RA NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan met with the IPA CIS Council Chairperson Valentina Matvienko.
At the meeting issues concerning the strengthening of the inter-parliamentary ties were discussed. The active and consistent work of the IPA, as well as the effective work of the joint sittings of namesakes of the RA National Assembly and RF Federal Assembly was noted with satisfaction.
The Speaker of the Council of Federation Valentina Matvienko highlighted the close cooperation with the Armenian colleagues during the preparation of the 137th Forum of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to be held in Saint Petersburg in 2017.
The interlocutors assessed the contacts between the Presidents and the governments of the two countries.
At the meeting issues regarding the cooperation of the trade-economic, energy, humanitarian and cultural spheres were touched upon.
The Speaker of the Council of Federation underlined the importance of the allied cooperation between Russia and Armenia in the CIS, EEC and CSTO platforms, the constructive dialogue and close contacts.
During the talk the themes of the Women’s Eurasian Forum was touched upon. The RA NA Deputy Speaker proposed her interlocutor to pay attention to the implementation of the constructive ideas voiced in the Women’s Forum held in Saint Petersburg on the previous year.
“Taking into consideration all that, we should get prepared for the holding of the Second Forum to be held in 2018,” Valentina Matvienko noted in response to Hermine Naghdalyan’s word.
Hermine Naghdalyan expressed her gratitude to Valentina Matvienko for her address to the RPA Women’s Forum and the active participation of the representatives of the RF FA Council of Federation.
The RA NA Representative to the IPA CIS Hayk Chilingaryan and the Chairperson of the RF FA Council of the Federation Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Konstantin Kosachyov also took part in the meeting.
