On October 27, in the Senate of the Republic of Italy the Chair of the Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs, the Head of the Armenian Delegation to NATO Parliamentary Assembly of the RA National Assembly Koryun Nahapetyan had working meetings with the Chair of the Committee on Defense of the Senate Nicola Latorre and the Chair of Italy-Armenia Friendship Group of the Parliament of Italy, Senator Emilia Grazia De Biasi. The RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Italy Victoria Bagdassarian took part in the meetings.

During the meeting with Nicola Latorre issues concerning the security in South Caucasus and Near East, the development of the Armenian-Italian relations in the sphere of defense and the perspectives of cooperation of the parliamentary committees were discussed. Koryun Nahapetyan highly assessed the readiness of the Chair of the Committee on Defense of the Senate for cooperating with the Armenian Parliament and invited him to Armenia on a working visit.

The Committee Chairs touched upon the procedure of the RA Constitution implementation in the spheres of defense and security and the Constitutional referendum to be held in December in Italy.

During the meeting with the Chair of Italy-Armenia Friendship Group of the Parliament of Italy, Senator Emilia Grazia De Biasi Koryun Nahapetyan presented the works done by Armenia-Italy Friendship Group of the RA National Assembly, distinguishing the discussion organized recently in the RA National Assembly dedicated to Armenia-Italy cooperation in the spheres of science and education. Proposals directed to the strengthening of the relations between the Parliamentary Friendship Groups of the two countries, as well as the implementation of the joint events were also discussed.
